Phil grew up in Silver Spring, MD and graduated from Elon University in 2006 with a BS in Computer Science and Minor in Philosophy. He commissioned into the Marine Corps and served as an CH-46E Helicopter Pilot, MV-22B Tiltrotor Pilot, Joint Terminal Attack Controller, and Embedded Afghan Security Forces Advisor. He served three deployments, deploying on the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Middle East, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan, and in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, Kuwait and Iraq.

Jack grew up in Southern California and graduated from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis in 2007 with a BS in Political Science. He commissioned into the Marine Corps and served as an AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter pilot, Aviation Safety Officer, and Weapons & Tactics Instructor. He deployed on the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Middle East, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan, and on the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan and the western Pacific. He is a proud partner of Service to School - another non-profit dedicated to helping veterans transition into top universities.

Ken grew up in southern New Jersey and graduated from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis in 2007 with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. He commissioned into the Marine Corps and served as a UH-1N and UH-1Y Huey utility helicopter pilot and Weapons & Tactics Instructor. He deployed on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to the western Pacific and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan.  He has subsequently transitioned from the Marine Corps and is proud to put his energy into The Wingman Foundation.

Chris grew up in New Orleans, LA and graduated from the Naval Academy in 2007 with a BS in Aeronautical Engineering. He commissioned in 2007 into the Marine Corps and served as an AH-1W attack helicopter pilot. He served two tours in Afghanistan and supported the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in Okinawa, Japan. Chris transitioned from the Marine Corps and now volunteers his time with The Wingman Foundation and Service to School non-profits.

Luke "ponce" Goessman

Head of Fundraising

Luke grew up in Morrison, Illinois and graduated from the Southern Illinois University in 2008 with a BA in Administration Justice. He commissioned into the Marine Corps and served as an AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter pilot, Aviation Safety Officer, and Weapons Training Officer. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, and on the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan. Luke is currently on Active Duty assigned to HMLAT-303 and married to Kirsten Goessman.

Head of Recruitment

Doug grew up in Houston, TX and graduated from The Citadel with a BA in English. He commissioned into the Marine Corps in 2006, and served as a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter pilot and Weapons & Tactics Instructor. He deployed to both Afghanistan and around the globe with the “Fighting” 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, and is currently pursuing an MBA at the University of Texas McCombs School of Business.

Michael grew up in Fremont, California and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2005 with a BS in History Honors and a Minor in Spanish. He later graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a MA in Diplomacy and Military Studies in 2007.  He commissioned into the Marine Corps and served as a CH-53E helicopter pilot, deploying on the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit to the Pacific and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan. He later served as Adjutant and Executive Officer of 9th Communication Battalion

jonathon "bof" lance

Head of Navy Recruiting

Jonathon grew up in Chattanooga, TN and graduated from The Citadel in 2004 with a BA in Political Science.   As a Navy pilot he flew SH-60F, HH-60H, and MH-60S helicopters and served as a SEAWOLF Weapons and Tactics Instructor.  He deployed with the HS-3/HSC-9 “Tridents” in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Anti-Piracy missions off of the Horn of Africa, and Operation UNIFIED RESPONSE following the 2010 Haiti earthquake.  Before leaving active duty he served as the Squadron Tactics and Training Officer for the HSC-25 “Island Knights” in Guam.

Jack grew up in Phoenix, AZ and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2009 with a BS in Political Science. He commissioned into the Navy and served as a MH-60S pilot. While stationed in Guam with HSC-25 the ISLAND KNIGHTS, he served as a Search and Rescue (SAR) pilot and deployed twice with the 31st MEU aboard USS ESSEX,  USS BONHOMME RICHARD, and USS DENVER. He also deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS. He is currently a Leadership instructor at the United States Naval Academy.

 

TIM "MEATWAD" SWARTZ

Special Projects Manager

Tim grew up in Wadsworth, OH and graduated from Ashland University with a B.S. in Political Science and History.  He commissioned into the Marine Corps and served as an AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter pilot.  He deployed twice to Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in Afghanistan.  He is currently transitioning out of the Marine Corps and will be pursuing graduate education at Ohio State University.

TINA SOLTREN

Merchandise Manager

Tina was born and raised in Matawan, NJ, and graduated with a degree in biology from Ramapo College in 2010.  She went on to earn a doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ in 2012.  Upon graduation, she moved to San Diego and developed friendships with many Navy and Marine Corps pilots.  She saw firsthand how aviation mishaps affected the military community and now helps by volunteering her time as The Wingman Foundation's Merchandise Manager.  

TROY "FUBU" VANTREASE

Navy FW Liaison

Troy grew up in West Frankfort, IL and graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2007 with a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering.  He commissioned into the United States Navy following graduation and later graduated from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2008 with a M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering.  He deployed from 2012-2013 with the “Black Aces” of VFA-41 aboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS, flying the F/A-18F Super Hornet in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  He is currently serving on Active Duty with the “Vampires” of VX-9 at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, CA, conducting Operational Test and flying the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G Growler.

 

RICKY "LEROY" SAVAGE

Head of Athletic Programs

Ricky grew up in Sacramento, CA, enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1990 and subsequently completing an A.S. in Aviation Maintenance Technology from Miramar College in 2001.  He served 25 years in the Marine Corps, retiring as an Osprey Maintenance Officer and an Aerial Observer / Gunner.  Ricky has an extensive aircraft background, serving at all levels of Naval Aviation maintenance as well as obtaining an Airframes and Powerplants rating from the FAA.  He completed 10 deployments with fixed wing, helicopter, and tiltrotor assets to the Middle East, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, Iraq, Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan, and in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE, Kuwait and Iraq.

MEREDITH RICHARDSON

Donor Outreach Manager

Meredith was born and raised in Branford, CT, and graduated with a degree in Finance from Quinnipiac University in 2007.  Upon graduation, she took a job at Sikorsky Aircraft in CT and went on to earn her MBA at Fairfield University in 2011.  Meredith relocated to San Diego in 2011 and has developed many friendships in the Naval Aviation community.  While continuing to work in the aviation industry, she has seen firsthand how aviation mishaps affect the military community and the need for immediate post-mishap support.  She now helps by volunteering her time as the Foundation's Donor Outreach Manager.
