Troy grew up in West Frankfort, IL and graduated from the US Naval Academy in 2007 with a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering. He commissioned into the United States Navy following graduation and later graduated from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 2008 with a M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering. Following initial flight training, he is was assigned to the VFA-41 Black Aces from 2012-2014, flying the F/A-18F in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Following his first fleet tour, he served as the F/A-18 Electronic Warfare Operational Test Director with the VX-9 Vampires from 2014-2017, flying the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G Growler. He is currently serving on Active Duty and is stationed at Naval Air Station Lemoore, California, flying the F/A-18E as the Maintenance Department Head with the VFA-192 World Famous Golden Dragons.
